In 2011, Niagara Helicopters donated over $75,000 in gift certificates and free flights over Niagara Falls. We work with major charity fundraising campaigns such as “Dreams Take Flight” and “the Make a Wish foundation” to give the gift of flight. Niagara Helicopters Limited receives many donation requests every year and we are happy to support our local community in these fundraising endeavours. All donation requests should be made a minimum of 4 weeks before the event date. Please note that we will consider all charitable donation requests from within the Niagara Region and those close to the hearts of our employees.
Flying Neighborly / Noise Policies
Niagara Helicopters is concerned about helicopter noise especially over noise sensitive areas and therefore commits itself to flying neighborly.
When sound became an issue with neighbors, former Owner/current VP Public Relations Ruedi Hafen worked tirelessly with Bell Helicopter to develop the “Quiet Mode”, a modification for the 407 that slows the rotor in flight reducing the decibel footprint substantially. Blade flapping, tail rotor noise and engine noise are well below noise levels established by the federally regulated Transport Canada and once altitude is reached the state-of-the-art Bell 407’s rotor system goes into quiet mode.
Pilot
Niagara Helicopter pilots incorporate noise abatement in their flight planning.
Transport Canada Regulations
Transport Canada has established no regulations regarding the noise of helicopters. Niagara Helicopters will voluntarity follow the noise abatement procedures prescribed above and comply with the fly neighborly program established by Helicopter Association International.
