Today's Niagara Helicopters Limited is almost exclusively a sightseeing operation, augmented by smaller amounts of charter, aerial photography, aerial surveillance and frost flying for Niagara grape growers. This past year, the company flew well over 100,000 passengers on the regular nine-minute, thirty-kilometre ride over Niagara Falls, many of them on group tours from Europe, Asia and South America. By comparison, the previous owners of the company (PanAir Helicopters) flew about 11,000 passengers in 1984. On a busy weekend in September, Niagara Helicopters grosses more than PanAir Helicopters did for the entire year.

In order to accomplish this, our Marketing Department, lead by Vice President Anna Pierce travels to trade shows all over the world to talk with tour operators about the desirability of Niagara Falls as a destination and to promote the company's product. Sales promotional material is available in English, French, German, Japanese, Italian and Spanish--the languages of our major tour customers.

In February 2009, we welcomed back Anna Pierce as the Vice President here at Niagara Helicopters Ltd. Anna is an invaluable member of the team and established leader. Anna is highly experienced in both the domestic and international travel trade markets which enables her to travel all over the world to promote Niagara Helicopters Limited and the desirability of Niagara Falls as a year-round destination with tour operators. Never one to take someone else’s word for it, Anna has been instrumental in working to conduct a market research study in which tourist motivations, expectations, decision-making, on-site behaviour and experiential outcomes are measured. This research focuses on the tourism businesses (e.g. tour operators, receptive tour operators, tour guides and wholesalers) and will deliver outcomes such as strategies for attracting visitation, influencing visitor motivators before, during or after travel, improving visitor experiences, and impacting visitor attitudes about Niagara Falls.
